Vacuum Clamshell Bucket

Description:
Conversion of standard clamshell bucket to vacuum clam used for remediation dredging
operation at Welland River, Ontario, Canada.
Conversion consisted of adding a vacuum chamber to the outside of the bucket. This
arrangement allowed for successful removal of heavy liquid (coal tar) from the bottom, along
with the adjacent contaminated sediment.
Vacuum clam was constructed by Dufresne Construction of Montreal PQ. - Design by Sanex
International, also of Montreal PQ.
