Existing and proposed biological tests must be field validated to ensure

ecological relevance.

g. Existing centralized databases (e.g., ERED and the BSAF database) must

be maintained and expanded.

h. Procedures for extrapolation of data (e.g., BSAF information across taxa;

benchmark species to native species; individual- to population-level effects,

etc.) must be developed and standardized.

Better information/approaches for estimating the trophic transfer potential

of contaminants especially for metals must be developed.

Far-field exposure models must be validated.

k. Protocols for the appropriate application of in situ studies and guidance for

how such approaches should be used to improve estimates of exposure

must be developed.
